The Supreme Court has asked the Centre to ensure there is no complete stoppage of train services to Delhi or closure of Delhi Metro stations ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party's October 10 protest. The court directed authorities to regulate services to prevent inconvenience to commuters.
The Supreme Court on Friday, October 9, asked the Centre to ensure there is no complete stoppage of train services to Delhi or closure of Delhi Metro stations ahead of the proposed Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest on October 10. The court directed authorities to allow public transport services to operate in a regulated manner so that commuters are not inconvenienced.
The court's direction came amid security restrictions announced ahead of the planned demonstration in the national capital. Several Metro stations and train services had been affected as authorities prepared for the protest and the possibility of crowds moving towards sensitive areas.
The Supreme Court emphasised that security arrangements should not bring public transport to a complete halt, noting that commuters depend on trains and the Metro for their daily travel.
