A Cessna 152 training aircraft operated by Chetak Aviation VT-AFB crash-landed in a field in Uttar Pradesh's Kasganj district on Monday, leaving the trainee pilot injured. The aircraft was on a solo training sortie after taking off from Aligarh when it encountered difficulties and made an emergency landing. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered an investigation into the incident, as reported by TOI.

Cessna 152 Training Aircraft Came Down in Agricultural Field

According to officials, the single-engine aircraft crashed in an agricultural field near an under-construction highway in Kasganj. Eyewitnesses said the plane reportedly struck overhead power lines before making the crash landing.

The trainee pilot, who was the sole occupant of the aircraft, sustained injuries and was rescued by local residents before being taken to the district hospital. She was later referred to a medical facility in Agra for further treatment. No casualties or injuries were reported on the ground.

DGCA Orders Investigation

The DGCA confirmed that the aircraft, registered as VT-AFB and belonging to Aligarh-based Chetak Aviation, was engaged in a solo training flight when the accident occurred.

In a statement, the aviation regulator said the trainee pilot is safe and that a detailed investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the crash landing. Investigators are expected to examine the aircraft, weather conditions, maintenance records and other operational factors.

Emergency Response at the Scene

Police and district administration officials quickly reached the crash site and cordoned off the area. Videos from the location showed the damaged aircraft resting in the field as officials and local residents gathered nearby.

Authorities have secured the wreckage for forensic and technical examination as part of the DGCA's inquiry.

Aircraft Used for Pilot Training

The Cessna 152 is a two-seater, single-engine aircraft widely used by flying training organisations for basic pilot instruction. Its simple design and handling characteristics make it one of the most commonly used trainer aircraft in India and several other countries.

Investigation Continues

Officials have not yet identified the exact reason for the emergency landing. The DGCA's investigation will focus on establishing whether the incident resulted from a technical malfunction, operational issue or any other contributing factor.

The trainee pilot remains under medical observation, while the aviation regulator is expected to submit its findings after completing the investigation.
