The incident occurred at Khavda Hill following a nearly three-hour ordeal during which the parents, local residents, and police officials desperately attempted to persuade the teenager to step away from the ledge. The entire sequence of events was captured on video by nearby tourists and locals present at the site.
The standoff began around 10:00 AM when the 18-year-old, a resident of the Devlai area, walked to the edge of the hill and threatened to take his own life, NDTV reported. Standing on the brink, he repeatedly shouted, "I am going to jump," as his mother and local villagers pleaded with him to move to safety. For hours, onlookers urged him to think about his future and his family, but the teenager remained standing on the dangerous precipice. Father Falls While Trying To Save Son, Mother Dies Moments Later

Father Attempts To Save Son, Both Fall; Mother Dies Later
While the teenager's mother and villagers reasoned with him from nearby, his father had initially been pleading with him from below. During the final 15 to 20 minutes of the standoff, the father climbed up the hill to intervene directly. As the youth continued to move precariously close to the ledge, the father approached him at around 1:00 PM to talk him down. In a final attempt to save his son, the father tried to grab him, but both lost their balance and fell from the cliff. Moments later, the panic-stricken mother also fell from the hill. All three family members lost their lives in the fall.
Police officials present at the scene had also engaged in the effort to negotiate with the youth, but their attempts were unsuccessful. Eyewitness Sanjay Jadhav detailed the repeated attempts made by the family and authorities to prevent the jump. "The parents and others tried very hard to make him understand, but he didn't listen and kept standing on the edge of the hill. Police officials were also there," Jadhav said. He added, "The mother kept pleading with him not to jump."
