New Delhi, December 31: Over the last week, most states in Northern India witnessed a drastic drop in temperature, accompanied by dense fog, which affected the visibility. On Monday, with a maximum temperature of 9.4-degree celsius, Delhi experienced the coldest day in 119 years. In most places, the temperature is likely to increase further due to a change in wind speed.

On Tuesday, Delhi recorded a temperature of 4-degree Celsius early in the morning, which increased to 10-degree towards noon. According to Accu weather, the night temperature is expected to touch a low of 5 degrees at night. The national capital touched a low of 2.5-degree celsius over the weekend and on Monday. The current temperature in Hisar, Haryana around noon, was 7 degrees and at night, it will touch a low of 2-degree celsius. The minimum temperature in this place was recorded at around 0.2-degree celsius a few days back.

A few days back, Sikar in Rajasthan recorded a minimum temperature of 0-degree celsius. On Tuesday, post noon, the place has recorded a temperature of 14-degree Celsius and is predicted to touch a low of 4 degrees at night. Shimla in Himachal Pradesh recorded a temperature of 10-degree Celsius at noon and will touch a minimum of 0 degrees at night. The present temperature in Uttarakhand is 12-degree Celsius and it will reach a minimum of 1 degree at night. The temperature in Srinagar was at 3 degrees around noon and is predicted to reach a minimum of -4 at night.

According to a Skymet report, a Western disturbance is going to induce a cyclonic circulation over North Rajasthan. A trough is further expected to develop and extend up to East Uttar Pradesh. As a result of which, several parts of Uttar Pradesh like Prayagraj, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Lucknow and Agra will witness rainfall on January 1. Over the next few days as well, the state may continue to see rainfall.
