Mumbai, February 21: A massive fire incident was reported from Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road in Mumbai on Thursday where a crane caught fire and was seen engulfed in flames. Traffic has been affected in the area. No injuries have been reported so far. The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained.  The link road, where the incident took place, is an important road connecting the eastern suburbs to Navi Mumbai. According to reports, the 2.1 km flyover will ease congestion at Shivaji Nagar, Bainganwadi and Deonar dumping ground junctions. People travelling towards Navi Mumbai will be benefited once the construction is completed.

The construction work of Ghatkopar-Mankhurd flyover is currently underway. Reports inform that the flyover will be 2.1 km long and around 24.2 m wide. At its highest, it will be 12 m from the surface. Earlier in October 2018, a similar incident was reported from Mumbai where a crane had collapsed on a bridge in Ghatkopar-Mankhurd area.
