Srinagar, July 31: In a miraculous turn of events, a man trapped inside debris on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway the entire night has been rescued. Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel of 72nd Battalion have rescued a man, identified as Pradeep Kumar, from the debris of the landslide on Jammu-Srinagar highway near milestone 147 that took place on Tuesday night.

On following a cue from CRPF dog Ajaxi, the troops found Kumar. The CRPF along with the Army undertook the “careful and tedious excavation” to rescue Kumar. Due to shock, Kumar was not being able to speak and is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.Amarnath Yatra Suspended Due to Blockade of Jammu-Srinagar Highway

Heavy and continued rainfall in the state has triggered landslides in several areas. Amarnath Yatra was suspended on Wednesday due to blockade of Jammu-Srinagar national highway. The police said due to blockade of the Jammu-Srinagar national highway no yatri will be allowed to move towards the Valley today from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas. Vaishno Devi Yatra on the new track has been suspended, following landslides in the area. The Yatra has been diverted on the old tracks.
