Arrah, November 30: Five people including Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) leader Kishori Yadav was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment on Wednesday by a special court for beating up and parading a woman naked in Bhojpur district of Bihar in August this year. Meanwhile, 14 others were sentenced to two years of imprisonment by the special court at Arrah. According to reports, all the accused were convicted for atrocities against SC/ST communities. Yadav, Bishnu Kumar, Mumtaz Ansari, Vinod Kumar Keshri and Sikandar Kumar were also fined Rs 10,000 each for outraging the modesty of a woman, rioting and offences under relevant sections of the SC/ ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, reported The New Indian Express. While, the 14 other accused were also fined Rs 2,000 fine each for rioting and similar offences under the Act.

In August, the woman was stipped, assaulted and paraded naked in Bihar's Bihiya town for her alleged involvement in the murder of a youth. Following the incident, eight police officials including the Station House Officer, Bahiya, were suspended. Angered by the murder, a mob stripped the woman and thrashed her mercilessly on suspicion of being involved in the crime. The mob also resorted to vandalism and pelted stones at several trains after which police had to fire in the air to disperse the crowd.
