New Delhi, August 17: A fire broke out at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the national capital on Saturday. Reports claimed that blaze is of low-to-moderate intensity. Fire tenders were rushed to the spot immediately after the hospital authorities raised an alarm. The flames were brought under control only after dispatching 34 fire tenders to the spot.

The fire at AIIMS erupted amid the ongoing treatment of veteran politician and former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the intensive care unit of AIIMS. The 66-year-old was admitted at the hospital on August 9 after he complained of breathlessness.

Several top BJP leaders, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan reached the hospital today to meet Jaitley.
