The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Friday, October 2, announced that entry and exit gates will remain closed till further notice at 11 metro stations in central Delhi, as security was tightened across Lutyens' Delhi ahead of a planned protest at Jantar Mantar by the All India Students' Association (AISA), the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and other activists. The closures also coincide with Gandhi Jayanti programmes at Rajghat and Vijay Ghat, for which the Delhi Traffic Police have put special arrangements in place in central Delhi from 5 am to 11 am.
Commuters travelling through the heart of the capital are likely to face disruption through the day, with both metro access and road movement restricted around the protest site. Delhi Traffic Advisory Today, October 2: Traffic Restrictions Near Jantar Mantar, Connaught Place Over Proposed Protest.

AAP leaders, including Atishi, Sanjay Singh and Manish Sisodia, have appealed to people to gather at Jantar Mantar and demand Kumar's resignation, citing concerns over the poll body's functioning and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. ‘CJP Protest Will Continue Until CEC Quits’: Abhijeet Dipke on Gyanesh Kumar.
