According to officials, the victim managed to record the encounter on her mobile phone during the assault, providing key evidence to investigators. The incident occurred on June 17, when the accused, who was known to the victim, allegedly convinced her to go out with him under the pretext of eating food together.
Once the woman was inside the vehicle, the man altered his route, claiming he needed to stop at a station to refill Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). Instead of heading to a fueling station, he reportedly drove the vehicle to an isolated stretch of road. According to the police complaint, the man then began making explicit, obscene remarks and demanding s*xual favors. The victim alleged that he touched her inappropriately and actively blocked her from unlocking the doors or exiting the vehicle. While confined to the moving vehicle, the woman used her mobile phone to record the interaction. This recorded footage was later handed over to the police to substantiate her claims. Following the formal complaint, officials at the Mandawali police station registered an FIR under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)—the penal code that replaced the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The Delhi Police confirmed that the accused has been taken into custody, and a thorough investigation into the matter is currently underway.
