Lucknow, November 8: In a tragic incident on Diwali, at least 10 cows and two bulls were electrocuted to death in Uttar Pradesh as the wire of Deepavali lights came in contact with a water tanker at a shelter home. The incident happened in Etah on Wednesday night when there was no caretaker at the shelter home as everyone was away celebrating Diwali. According to reports, a magisterial probe has been ordered into the incident. The district magistrate has said that an FIR will be filed if need be and the those responsible for the incident will be punished.

The dead cows and bulls have been buried near the shelter. Reports say that the locals protested against the cow shelter administration, accusing them of negligence.

Earlier this year, at least 36 cows had died at a Gaushala in Delhi's Chhawla area. The Delhi government had ordered an inquiry into the incident.
