Washington, August 26: United States President Donald Trump met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the sidelines of the ongoing G7 Summit in France on Monday. The two leaders deliberated on an array of issues, include the unrest in Kashmir sparked after the abrogation of Article 370. Trump, while contending with New Delhi's claim that the situation in Kashmir is normal, said he was hopeful that Modi will speak to Pakistan and resolve the "bilateral" issue. Trump Offers to Mediate Again in 'Complicated' Kashmir Issue, Says 'Hindus And Muslims Don't Get Along Well'

"We spoke last night about Kashmir, Prime Minister really feels he has it under control. They speak with Pakistan and I'm sure that they will be able to do something that will be very good," Trump said.

The US President's assertion that Kashmir is a "bilateral" issue between India and Pakistan comes days after he twice pitched to act as a mediator between the two nations to resolve the territorial dispute.

During the joint press address, Prime Minister Modi also reiterated that the issue between India and Pakistan could be resolved mutually, without any external interference.

"All issues between India and Pakistan are bilateral in nature, that is why we don't bother any other country regarding them," he said. "India and Pakistan were together before 1947 and I'm confident that we can discuss our problems and solve them, together," Modi added.
