EPFO Passbook: EPF Interest Not Showing? Check PF Balance in 3 Easy Ways

EPFO has started crediting 8.25% interest for FY 2025-26 into EPF accounts, with the process being completed in batches. If the interest is not yet visible, members can check their EPFO passbook, use the missed-call service or send an SMS. A delay in crediting does not reduce the interest payable to members.

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has started crediting interest at 8.25% for the financial year 2025-26 to EPF subscribers' accounts. The interest crediting process is being carried out in batches, and many members have already received SMS notifications confirming the update.

Members who have not yet received an SMS do not necessarily need to worry. The interest credit may take some time to reflect across all accounts as EPFO processes the payout in phases. Subscribers can check their updated balance through the EPFO passbook, missed-call service or SMS facility. EPFO Digital Overhaul: How To Activate UAN, Withdraw PF and Update E-Nomination Online.

EPFO Interest Credit For FY 2025-26

The EPF interest for FY 2025-26, at a rate of 8.25%, started being credited into subscribers' accounts from July 15, 2026, according to the report. EPFO processes the interest payout in batches. As a result, the updated balance may not appear immediately for every member.

The interest is calculated on the monthly running balance. According to Paragraph 60 of the EPF Scheme of 1952, a delay in the actual crediting of interest does not result in a loss for the member. New EPFO Portal epfo.gov.in: 8 PF Services Employees Can Access Online.

How To Check EPF Balance Through EPFO Passbook

Members can check their account through the unified member portal. After logging in, go to the employee section and select ‘Member Passbook.’ Enter your UAN and password to access the PF passbook. The passbook displays the opening and closing balances, employee and employer contributions, PF transfers and the interest generated.

How To Check EPF Balance Through Missed Call

Registered members can also check their PF information through the missed-call service. Members can give a missed call from their registered mobile number to 011-22901406. For the service to work, the UAN should have the member's bank account details, Aadhaar and PAN seeded with it. The service is free of charge.

How To Check EPF Balance Through SMS

Another option is the EPFO SMS service. Members with a registered UAN can send EPFOHO UAN ENG to 7738299899 to receive information about their latest contribution and PF balance. The final three letters can be changed according to the preferred language. For example, members seeking information in Marathi can send EPFOHO UAN MAR.

Will Delayed Interest Credit Reduce Your Interest?

A delay in the appearance of interest in the account does not mean the member will lose the interest due. EPFO calculates interest based on the monthly running balance, and the interest is compounded annually. The full applicable amount is added to the closing balance even if the actual credit appears later.

Members who do not yet see the interest entry in their EPFO passbook can therefore check again after some time as the batch-wise crediting process continues.
