Police have arrested a man in Bihar after he allegedly defrauded several local villagers by impersonating an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. Authorities apprehended the suspect after discovering he was using a private car equipped with counterfeit government insignia and unauthorized official vehicle tags to project administrative authority.

According to police officials, the accused used his fake status as a senior bureaucrat to build credibility among rural residents. Promising government jobs, expedited administrative work, and dispute resolutions, he allegedly collected substantial sums of money from multiple individuals before locals grew suspicious and reported him to law enforcement. Upon intercepting the vehicle, investigating officers recovered forged identification credentials, fabricated official rubber stamps, and fake government vehicle permits. Preliminary inquiries reveal that the suspect regularly drove through rural districts using flashing beacons and official government emblems on his private car to avoid toll charges and routine police checkpoints.

Impersonation of civil service officers remains a recurring challenge across several regions, where fraudsters exploit the high public prestige and perceived administrative influence of IAS officers to dupe job seekers and vulnerable rural communities.
