FSSAI Halts CG Foods 'Veg Bhujia Namkeen' Production; Know the Reason
The FSSAI has ordered CG Foods India to halt 'veg bhujia namkeen' production after an Ajmer inspection found unhygienic practices, including re-processing floor-collected noodles, unlicensed manufacturing, predated packaging, and expired stock seizures. During the on-site raid, enforcement teams secured and seized 32,107.2 kg of stock, which included loose and broken noodles.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has directed CG Foods India Pvt Ltd to immediately halt the production of its "veg bhujia namkeen" following a series of major compliance and hygiene violations uncovered during an inspection.

According to the regulator, the facility was found to be engaging in unsafe practices. "The unit was found re-processing floor-collected, broken noodles into bhujia products without heat treatment, along with using predated packaging dates," the FSSAI stated. Furthermore, investigators identified the unauthorised production of specific product variants. "Unlicensed manufacturing of 'Wai-Wai MaMa' and 'Wai-Wai Mama Punte' bhujia variants was identified in direct violation of Section 31(1) of the FSS Act, 2006," the authority noted.
Seizures and Regulatory Action
During the on-site raid, enforcement teams secured and seized 32,107.2 kg of stock, which included loose and broken noodles. The inspection also exposed multiple documentation and sanitation shortcomings. "The inspection revealed several hygiene and documentation deficiencies, including inadequate pest-control records and other deficiencies relating to food hygiene and safety," the FSSAI reported. As part of the ongoing enforcement process, authorities collected samples for detailed laboratory testing and detained 1,925 boxes of expired finished goods, initiating strict legal proceedings against the company. The FSSAI has formally instructed the firm to "discontinue the production of the Veg Bhujia Namkeen products without proper approvals and measures". The regulator added that further actions will be determined based on the final laboratory analysis and inspection conclusions.
