New Delhi, November 11: The prices of diesel and petrol came down for the 21 days in a row on Sunday. The diesel and petrol prices in the national capital Delhi as on Sunday, November 11, stood at Rs 72.46 per litre- decrease by Rs 0.12 and Rs 77.73 per litre- decrease by Rs 0.16, respectively. Diesel and petrol prices in Mumbai are Rs 75.92 per litre- decrease by Rs 0.13 and Rs 83.24- decrease by Rs 0.16, respectively.

On Saturday, Petrol and diesel were sold at Rs 77.89 per litre and Rs 72.58 per litre in Delhi. While in Mumbai, Petrol and Diesel were sold at Rs 83.40 per litre and Rs 76.05. Excise Duty Cut on Petrol, Diesel to Cost Rs 10,500 Crore, Arun Jaitley Asks States to Reduce VAT on Fuel.

This comes after the fuel prices had witnessed the relentless hike till October 4, when petrol reached an all-time high value of Rs 91.34 in Mumbai and Rs 84 per litre in Delhi. The Diesel prices had also reached Rs 80.10 in Mumbai and Rs 75.45 in Delhi. Later to provide relief to the common man, the central government intervened into the matter and announced a rate cut of Rs 2.50 in fuel prices.

Some of the states also reduced Value Added Tax (VAT) which made fuel prices go down by Rs 5 in selective states. However, the fuel prices went on an increase. But since last 21 days, the prices of fuel have seen a steep downward turn, due to lower international crude oil cost and a recovery in the rupee against the US dollar.
