New Delhi, June 2: Fuel prices in India were slashed for the fourth consecutive day on Sunday. The dip in the petrol and diesel rates could be seen across four metro cities- Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. After the daily revision in retail fuel rates on Sunday, the rates of petrol in these cities saw a dip of decreased by over 10 paise per litre while diesel became cheaper by over 20 paise. In Delhi, petrol price was slashed by 12 paise to Rs 71.50 a litre on Sunday. On Saturday, petrol was priced at Rs 71.62 a litre. Meanwhile, diesel price was cut by 20 paise to Rs 66.16 as compared with Rs 66.36 on Saturday. Fuel Prices Witness Marginal Surge a Day After Lok Sabha Elections 2019 Results. 

According to data available on Indian Oil Corporation website, petrol was priced at Rs 77.16 per litre while diesel was priced at Rs 69.37 a litre in n Mumbai on Sunday. In Kolkata, petrol was being sold at Rs 77.71 a litre on Sunday, which is 3 paise cheaper that its price on Saturday at Rs 73.74 a litre. Diesel in Kolkata was sold at Rs 68.06, down 15 paise from Saturday.

In Chennai, commuters had to pay Rs 74.27 for a litre of petrol while diesel was sold at Rs 69.98 per litre. The city saw a cut of 21 paise as compared to the price on Saturday. Among the metro cities, the fuel prices in the national capital are the cheapest among all metros this time.

The state-run oil marketing companies Indian Oil Corp (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd (HPCL) revise fuel prices with effect from 0600 hrs on a daily basis. The price cut follows international oil prices trading near the lowest level in a month on a bigger-than-expected gain in American stockpiles
