Ghaziabad: Father Shot Dead by Son Over INR 150 Crore Property Dispute
A 32-year-old man allegedly shot his 55-year-old father dead late Wednesday night in Budhana village near Modinagar, Ghaziabad, following a violent escalation over a long-standing property dispute. The victim, identified as Hariom Chaudhary, a wealthy local farmer and landowner, was shot multiple times at close range.
A property dispute turned fatal in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad after a 32-year-old man allegedly shot his father dead during an argument over family assets estimated to be worth around INR 150 crore. The incident took place late on Wednesday night in Budana village under the Modinagar police station limits, where the accused reportedly demanded documents related to his share of the ancestral property before opening fire, as reported by TOI.
Argument Over Property Escalated into Violence

Investigators said Nikhil demanded papers related to his share of the family's assets. When his father refused to hand over the documents, an argument broke out. During the altercation, the accused allegedly fired multiple shots at Hariom, hitting him three times. The victim died at the scene.
Victim Owned Assets Worth Around ₹150 Crore
Police said Hariom Chaudhary, 55, was considered one of the affluent farmers in the area. He reportedly owned around 75 bighas of land in Modinagar along with a commercial market on the Delhi-Meerut Road. The family's total assets are estimated to be worth approximately INR 150 crore. Investigators also said Hariom had previously transferred a portion of his assets, including shops and about 25 bighas of land, to Nikhil. However, the accused allegedly wanted ownership of the remaining property as well, leading to repeated disputes within the family.
Accused Flees After Shooting
After the shooting, the accused allegedly fled the scene with the weapon. Family members alerted the police, who reached the house and sent the body for a post-mortem examination.
Ghaziabad Police have formed multiple teams to trace and arrest Nikhil. Officials said raids are being conducted at possible hideouts, and efforts are underway to recover the firearm used in the crime.
Investigation Underway
Police have registered a case and are recording statements from family members and other witnesses. Investigators are examining the sequence of events leading to the shooting and verifying details related to the ongoing property dispute. Authorities said further legal action will be taken once the accused is apprehended and additional evidence is collected.
