ADG Bihar, Sanjeev Kumar Singhal added that investigation is underway in the case. He also confirmed that a SIT probe has been ordered in the case, while talking to news agency ANI:

The police action came after the victim approached Superintendent of Police Har Kishore Rai. While speaking to reporters, Rai said the girl kept quiet over the past eight months fearing social stigma and ostracisation.

Immediately after approaching the top police officer, the victim was sent to the hospital for medical examination. An FIR was registered which includes the names of all 18 alleged perpetrators.

According to SP Har Kishore Rai, the girl had approached the school Principal for help but instead of coming to the girl's rescue, the Principal told her to keep her mouth shut to not let the school get a bad name. The SP also said that the Principal called the girl to his cabin a few days later and assaulted her. Investigations are on full swing as the outrage over the case keeps growing as the gruesome details emerge about the case.
