Gurpreet Singh, alias Goldy Dhillon, an alleged gangster wanted in multiple criminal cases in Punjab, has been arrested in Spain in a major breakthrough for Indian law enforcement agencies. Police sources said Dhillon, who is accused of operating a criminal network in Punjab and Chandigarh from abroad, was taken into custody by Spanish authorities. According to police sources, Dhillon had allegedly been coordinating criminal activities, including extortion and targeted attacks, while residing overseas. His arrest is expected to aid investigations into several organised crime cases linked to his network, as reported by TOI.

Indian authorities are now expected to initiate the legal process required for his extradition to face trial in India. Further details regarding the extradition timeline have not been disclosed. Chandigarh Police Bust Goldy Dhillon Gang Module, 3 Arrested with Sophisticated Weapons.

Alleged Links to Organised Crime Network

Punjab Police have previously identified Dhillon as a key operative associated with the Goldy Brar-Lawrence Bishnoi network. Investigators allege that he functioned as a "sub-node," recruiting foot soldiers and facilitating extortion, targeted shootings and other criminal activities in Punjab, particularly in Mohali, Patiala and Fatehgarh Sahib districts. Police have also linked him to transnational extortion cases and shootings, with his alleged network extending beyond India. Targeted Killing Plot Foiled in Punjab: Cops Bust Target Killing Module; 2 Goldy Dhillon Gang Members Held With 5 Pistols.

Criminal Cases Against Dhillon

Investigators say Dhillon is wanted in multiple cases registered over the past decade, including allegations of murder, attempted murder, extortion and offences under the Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had earlier declared him a wanted fugitive and announced a reward for information leading to his arrest. Authorities have described him as one of several foreign-based gangsters accused of directing criminal operations in India from overseas.

Crackdown on Gang Network

The arrest comes amid sustained action against the Goldy Dhillon network. In recent weeks, Chandigarh Police arrested three alleged associates linked to the gang, while law enforcement agencies have continued operations targeting its logistical support system and operatives across northern India.

Officials believe Dhillon's arrest could provide valuable leads into the functioning of the gang and its international connections. Goldy Dhillon has been on the radar of Indian investigative agencies for several years over his alleged involvement in organised crime and extortion. Police allege he operated from Europe while directing criminal activities through associates in India.

With his arrest in Spain, investigators hope to strengthen ongoing cases against the gang and pursue further action against its members, subject to the completion of extradition proceedings.
