Gorakhpur: Police Constable in 112 Emergency Services Rapes and Kills 10-Year-Old Girl; Public Beats Him (Videos)

A police constable allegedly killed a 10-year-old girl after raping her in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur on Tuesday night, police said. The accused, identified as Abhishek Yadav, a constable posted with the Dial 112 Police Response Vehicle (PRV) unit, was arrested on Thursday. Videos from the district hospital showed doctors and paramedical staff allegedly assaulting Yadav when he was brought in for a routine medical examination before being produced in court.

How The Crime Came To Light

Police received a complaint around 3 am on Wednesday from the girl's father, who said she had gone missing while returning from the district hospital. She had gone there to deliver food to her elder sister, who had been admitted the previous evening, as no one else was available at home to do so.

A police team reviewing CCTV footage from the area found a man in police uniform following the girl. The footage showed him intercepting her after she left the hospital around 10 pm, talking to her and offering her a lift. CCTV And Vehicle Trail Led To The Accused

Investigators used the motorcycle's registration number, captured in the footage, to trace the vehicle to Yadav. He was taken into custody for questioning on Wednesday night, during which he allegedly admitted to the crime. Police then took him to the location and recovered the girl's body from under a bridge on the banks of a river.

During questioning, Yadav claimed he had spotted the girl walking alone after she left the hospital. The SSP said he stopped her at a secluded spot and persuaded her to accompany him on the pretext of dropping her home, but instead took her to an area near a crematorium. Public Anger At District Hospital

The incident triggered outrage at the district hospital, where Yadav was allegedly assaulted by doctors and paramedical staff during his medical examination ahead of his court appearance on Thursday. Police had to call in additional personnel to complete the examination and escort him out of the premises.

Accused Has Prior Record, Dismissal Process Initiated

SSP Kaustubh said the process to dismiss Yadav from the police force has been initiated, describing him as unfit to continue serving after the incident. The officer said Yadav was previously jailed in January last year over allegations of molesting a woman and was suspended at the time. He was released on bail, and his suspension was revoked in September, after which he was posted on duty with the Dial 112 unit.
