Jammu, March 8: The Class 9 student, charged of executing the terror attack at a bus stand in Jammu on Thursday, hid the grenade he used inside his lunchbox, a report claimed. The accused, who belongs to Kulgam in South Kashmir, used the grenade in a fatal attack which left 2 dead and 32 injured.

The 15-year-old had concealed the grenade under dry rice inside the tiffin box, police sources told NDTVHe travelled with the grenade all the way from Kulgam to Jammu in a private car. After arriving near the crowded bus stand, he hurled the grenade to cause maximum casualties.

The Kashmiri boy was apprehended shortly after the attack by the Jammu police from Nagrota, located 20-km away from the site of attack. Preliminary probe revealed that he had left Kulgam on Wednesday, and arrived in Jammu the next day to execute the blast.

Jammu Inspector General of Police MK Sinha, while speaking to reporters, said he suspects the role of Hizbul Mujahideen behind the act of terror. Hizbul's Kulgam unit chief Farooq Ahmad Bhat planned the attack in a bid to communally polarise the Jammu region, he said.

A search operation has been launched to nab the driver who left the accused at the site of attack. The boy is being interrogated to ascertain who recruited him, and how why was assigned the task to carry out the attack outside the Valley.

The deceased, meanwhile, have been identified as residents of Anantnag and Uttarakhand. The injured victims are being treated at multiple hospitals in Jammu region.
