The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested eight alleged operatives linked to the banned terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), claiming to have foiled an attempt to establish an active network in the state and disrupt a suspected plan to carry out terror activities in Gujarat and other parts of India. The arrests were announced on Friday following a coordinated crackdown by the ATS.

According to ATS officials, the suspects were allegedly working to expand the presence of Jaish-e-Mohammed in Gujarat by recruiting individuals, building a local support network and facilitating activities linked to the banned organisation. Mumbai Terror Plot Foiled: Maharashtra ATS Reveals Sensational Details After Engineering Student’s Arrest Over JeM, ISIS Links.

The operation was carried out after intelligence inputs and surveillance led investigators to the alleged operatives. Officials said the arrests are part of a broader counter-terrorism effort to prevent extremist groups from establishing networks in the state.

Investigators are questioning the eight accused to determine the extent of their alleged links with Jaish-e-Mohammed and whether they were receiving instructions or logistical support from handlers outside the state. Jaipur Terror Probe: ATS Arrests Babita Dhakad Over Suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed Sleeper Cell Links.

Police are also examining digital devices, financial records and communication channels seized during the operation to identify possible associates and establish whether any additional recruitment or terror-related plans were underway.

Following the arrests, security agencies have stepped up monitoring of suspected extremist activities in Gujarat and neighbouring regions. Officials said the investigation is continuing to identify any wider network and to determine whether more arrests are required. The ATS has not disclosed the identities of the accused or the specific locations targeted during the operation, citing the ongoing investigation.

Jaish-e-Mohammed is a Pakistan-based militant group that has been designated as a terrorist organisation by India, the United Nations and several other countries. It has been linked to multiple terror attacks in India over the past two decades. The latest operation comes amid continued efforts by Indian security agencies to prevent the expansion of terror networks and strengthen intelligence-led counter-terrorism operations across the country.
