Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insan, the controversial self-styled godman and head of Dera Saccha Sauda, has been granted bail by Panchkula special CBI court in the castration case of 400 sadhus, a case in which he was accused of forcing more than 400 males of undergoing castration. Though Ram Rahim Singh Insan has been granted bail, he will remain in jail as he has been sentenced a 20 year jail term in the rape case of two sadhvis.

Earlier, Ram Rahim's bail application was rejected by the special judicial magistrate, CBI, on August 23. After that, the self-styled godman decided to challenge the order. According to a report in the Times of India, he moved an application before Jagdeep Singh, a special CBI judge. Judge Jagdeep Singh accepted Ram Rahim's bail plea on Friday.

Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was sentenced to 20 years in prison for rape, by judge Jagdeep Singh in the year 2017,in a makeshift court in the Sunaria jail where Ram Rahim, 50, had been lodged since his conviction.

Rs 40 is what Ram Rahim earns per day, said Jagjit Singh, Inspector General of Prisons (Haryana), while speaking to The Indian Express. Apart from growing vegetables, he performs yoga and other forms of meditation. On request, the jail authorities have also provided him religious books.
