A 57-year-old domestic worker was killed after she was allegedly run over by a Mahindra Thar while sleeping in the parking area of a residential society in Gurugram, police said on Wednesday, July 15. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening at Ansal Aralia Society in Sector 67, where the victim died on the spot after the SUV, allegedly being reversed by a woman, struck her.
Police have detained the woman driving the vehicle and launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities are examining the exact sequence of events, including allegations made by the victim's family regarding what happened after the accident.
Victim Was Sleeping in Parking Area
The victim, identified as Guddi, was a native of Uttar Pradesh's Mahoba district and worked as a domestic helper. According to police, Guddi was sleeping in the society's parking area when a red Mahindra Thar, allegedly being reversed by a woman resident, ran over her. She sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Guddi's family has alleged that the woman was driving negligently when the accident occurred. According to the family, the accused initially shifted Guddi to a private hospital in another vehicle, where doctors declared her dead. They further alleged that after returning from the hospital, the woman brought Guddi's body back to the society's parking area, left it there and returned to her flat. Police have not confirmed these allegations and are investigating the claims as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Police reached the residential society after receiving information about the incident, took custody of the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination. The woman driving the Mahindra Thar has been detained and is being questioned.
Investigators are working to establish the exact sequence of events and determine whether negligence or any other offence was involved. Officials said further legal action will depend on the findings of the investigation.
