Police said all five alleged gang members sustained bullet injuries during the encounter. They were rushed to a private super-speciality hospital, where four were declared dead. The fifth suspect remains hospitalised and is undergoing treatment.

Three police personnel also suffered gunshot injuries during the operation. Officials said they were admitted to hospital and are receiving medical care, with their condition under close observation.

Gang Allegedly Linked to Extortion

Investigators said the suspects were associated with the foreign-based Deepak Nandal gang, which has been linked to several extortion cases targeting businessmen, builders and property dealers in Haryana and neighbouring states.

Preliminary findings indicate the gang members were allegedly planning criminal activities in Gurugram when they were intercepted by police. Authorities are continuing to investigate whether the group was involved in recent extortion attempts in the region.

Crackdown on Deepak Nandal Network

The encounter is part of the ongoing crackdown on the Deepak Nandal gang by Haryana Police and the Special Task Force (STF). In recent months, law enforcement agencies have arrested several alleged members and associates of the gang as part of efforts to curb organised crime in the state.

Deepak Nandal, who is believed to be operating from abroad, is wanted in multiple criminal cases, including extortion and violent offences. Police allege that he continues to direct operations through associates based in India.

Police have recovered weapons and other evidence from the encounter site, and forensic teams are examining the scene. Investigators are also working to establish the identities and criminal backgrounds of the deceased suspects and determine their alleged involvement in pending cases. Senior police officials said further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation, while security agencies continue efforts to dismantle organised criminal networks operating in the National Capital Region.
