According to law enforcement officials, the two students were traveling in a Mahindra Scorpio SUV when they engaged in a verbal altercation with the driver of an MG Windsor electric car.
The victim reported that the dispute escalated rapidly after he allegedly failed to give way to the suspects' SUV. The students then intercepted his vehicle, shattered its windowpanes, and assaulted him using sticks. The incident gained widespread public attention after mobile phone footage, recorded by the victim from inside his car, was shared on social media and went viral. In one of the video clips, the bloodied driver is heard calling out to bystanders for assistance, stating, "Why are you doing this? What have you done? They smashed my face. A secondary video recorded after the confrontation showed the extensive damage to the vehicle. The victim detailed the assault in the recording, stating that his car windows were smashed and he was repeatedly struck with sticks. Following the online circulation of the videos, Gurugram Police launched a swift investigation. Within hours of the footage going viral, police personnel tracked down and apprehended both suspects. The Scorpio SUV involved in the incident has also been seized by the authorities.
