A 32-year-old auto-rickshaw driver was allegedly beaten to death with an iron rod following a road rage incident in Gurugram's Udyog Vihar area. Police said the fatal assault stemmed from an argument over giving way on the road. The accused, a cab driver, has been arrested and booked for murder. According to police, the incident took place on Monday evening near Peepal Chowk in Udyog Vihar Phase V, one of Gurugram's busiest office hubs. The victim, identified as Arvind Kumar, and the accused, Dalip Kumar, were driving in opposite directions when an argument broke out over who should give way.

The verbal altercation escalated after both men stepped out of their vehicles. Police alleged that the cab driver attacked the auto driver repeatedly with an iron rod and an awl, inflicting severe head injuries. Gurugram Road Rage: 2 BBA Students Arrested After Viral Video Shows Driver Thrashed, Car Smashed Near Rajiv Chowk (Watch Videos).

Victim Succumbed to Head Injuries

Arvind Kumar, a native of Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh who lived in Gurugram's Jharsa village, was rushed to a nearby hospital by a passerby after the assault. Despite medical treatment, he later succumbed to his injuries. The victim's family alleged that several people witnessed the attack but did not intervene while he lay bleeding on the road.

Accused Arrested, Murder Case Registered

Police arrested the accused, identified as 32-year-old cab driver Dalip Kumar from Delhi's Uttam Nagar, shortly after the incident. An FIR has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder.

Investigators said the iron rod allegedly used in the assault has been recovered and the vehicle driven by the accused has also been seized as part of the investigation. Gurugram Road Rage: Doctor Navin Yadav Rams SUV Into Swiggy Delivery Agent Multiple Times Over Minor Dispute, Arrested.

Police are continuing their investigation and are examining witness statements and other evidence to establish the sequence of events. Officials said further legal proceedings will follow based on the findings of the probe. The accused's family has disputed the police version, claiming others were present during the incident and were involved in the assault. Police have not commented further on that claim.

Road rage incidents have become an increasing concern in several urban centres, with minor traffic disputes at times escalating into serious acts of violence. Police have urged motorists to avoid confrontations on the road and report disputes to authorities instead of resorting to violence.
