HAPIDA SKYNeX: Ravi Tamta Successfully Test-Flies Electric Flying Vehicle in Uttarakhand; CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Praises Him (Video)
Almora-based innovator Ravi Tamta has successfully test-flown his 'HAPIDA SKYNeX', a single-seater electric flying vehicle prototype. Aimed at improving mobility in rugged Himalayan terrain, the project received praise from Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami. The vehicle remains in the early stages, requiring further safety and regulatory validation before deployment.
A young innovator from Uttarakhand's Almora district has taken a significant step toward the future of personal mobility by successfully testing the prototype of an electric flying vehicle. Developed as a homegrown alternative to conventional transport, the vehicle is powered entirely by electricity. Ravi Tamta, a resident of Kaflikhan village near the famous Jageshwar Dham, built the prototype - named HAPIDA SKYNeX - through his startup, Hapida Sky Private Limited. The successful flight marks a major milestone after years of research and development.
Zero Emissions and Alternative Propulsion
Unlike conventional aircraft that rely on aviation fuel, or experimental projects exploring ethanol-based propulsion, the HAPIDA SKYNeX operates as a fully electric vehicle. This design choice eliminates tailpipe emissions, offering a cleaner approach to personal air mobility. According to Tamta, the initiative is structured to make safe, affordable, and sustainable personal aviation accessible within India.┬аRenu Dhariyal From Uttarakhand Sets Guinness Record for Longest Hair, Measuring Nearly 9 Feet (See Pics).

Potential Applications in Mountainous Terrain
Experts note that Uttarakhand's rugged Himalayan landscape provides a practical testing ground for next-generation aerial technologies designed to bypass traditional road constraints. If scaled successfully, electric flying vehicles could serve critical functions beyond urban transport. Potential applications include enhancing connectivity for remote mountain villages, supporting emergency response and disaster relief during landslides or floods, and boosting regional tourism.
Next Steps and Regulatory Path
While the initial prototype demonstration highlights the expanding capabilities of Indian tech startups, the project remains in an early phase. The vehicle requires extensive additional flight testing, safety validations, and formal regulatory approvals before any commercial manufacturing or deployment can take place. Reacting to Tamta's achievement, Uttarakhand Chief Minister┬аPushkar Singh Dhami lauded the innovator on social media. "Heartiest congratulations to Ravi Tamta ji, the young innovator from Almora, Uttarakhand, on the successful flight test of the HAPIDA SKYNEX prototype while innovating in drone technology," his post read.
Dhami further said that Tamta's achievement proves that there is no dearth of talent, innovation, and scientific thinking among our youth. "Heartiest best wishes for your bright future and continued success," he said.
