A petrol pump attendant in Uttar Pradesh's Hapur district was dragged for nearly five kilometres by a Mahindra Scorpio SUV after its occupants attempted to flee without paying for a Rs 2,000 diesel refill.

A petrol pump attendant in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur was allegedly dragged for nearly five kilometres by a black Scorpio SUV after its occupants attempted to leave without paying INR 2,000 diesel bill, police said. The incident took place late on September 2 in the Chhijarsi area and was captured on CCTV. Police have registered a case under the jurisdiction of Pilkhuwa Kotwali police station and are working to identify and locate those involved.

According to CCTV footage from the highway-side petrol pump, the SUV arrived at the station late at night and was refuelled with diesel. A confrontation reportedly followed between the vehicle's occupants and the petrol pump staff over the payment. As the Scorpio began moving away, a petrol pump attendant became caught against the vehicle. The driver allegedly continued driving, dragging the employee along the road. Another pump employee can be seen in the footage chasing the SUV in an apparent attempt to rescue his colleague.

Attendant Found Injured

The SUV continued along the road before the attendant was eventually left behind. Subsequent CCTV footage showed people gathering around the injured employee and attempting to help him. Police Launch Search for Suspects

The incident falls under the Pilkhuwa Kotwali police station area. Police have registered a case following the incident and launched efforts to identify and locate the occupants of the SUV.
