How the Incident Unfolded

The cave-in occurred without warning as the woman was walking along the road near Laltarao Pul. The ground beneath her gave way, and she fell halfway into the pit that opened up. Cause of the Collapse

According to authorities, the road cave-in was caused by internal leakage from an underground water pipe. Officials also noted that ongoing sewer line work in the area may have added to the ground instability, compounding the effect of the water leakage.

Response and Repairs

Following the incident, traffic in the area was temporarily restricted to allow municipal teams to assess and repair the damaged stretch. Workers filled the cavity and carried out repairs to restore the road surface.

Local authorities are expected to inspect other stretches of underground pipelines in the vicinity to prevent similar incidents.
