Chandigarh, December 29: In a tragic incident, at least seven people have been killed in a road accident in Haryana on Saturday. According to a tweet by ANI, the mishap took place after a truck rammed into two cars near Ambala-Chandigarh national highway. Reports inform that five people have been critically injured in the accident. Police informed that the accident took place due to poor visibility owing to heavy fog in the area. The two cars that were hit by the truck were reported to have been coming from Chandigarh. Earlier this week, eight people lost their lives when dense fog led to a pile-up on a national highway in Haryana's Jhajjar district. Reports inform that of the eight dead, six are women. In the deadly accident, about 50 vehicles were hit on Rohtak-Rewari highway due to fog.

According to reports, school bus, cars and SUVs collided causing a 2-km long traffic jam on the highway. Haryana minister OP Dhankar had announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the kin of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh to those severely injured and Rs 50,000 to those who have received minor injuries.  Dense Fog Engulfs Delhi-NCR, Several Trains and Flight Services Affected. 

The northern states of India have been witnessing severe cold wave conditions accompanied by dense fog which reduces visibility and causes many road accidents every year. Cold waves continued to grip North India due to fall in temperature on Saturday morning. In Delhi, several flights were delayed due to poor visibility in the national capital.
