Bhubaneswar, June 23: A major tragedy was averted on Sunday when a Guwahati-bound flight from Hyderabad made an emergency at Bhubaneswar airport after a passenger on board created a mid-air ruckus. The IndiGo flight 6E 462 left Hyderabad at 4:50 am. According to reports, a 20-year-old “mentally-unstable” passenger identified as Irshad Ali starting created chaos on the flight after which the flight was forced to land at Biju Patnaik airport. IndiGo Mumbai-Allahabad Flight 6E 5987 Encounters Severe Turbulence, Three Crew Members Injured.

"Ali attempted to open the aircraft door during flight, creating a mid-air scare. With the help of a few passengers and his co-passenger Abdul Karim, he was somehow restrained. The flight was then diverted to Bhubaneswar, where it landed at 6:10 am,” reported Hindustan Times quoting airport director SC Hota. After the plane landed at the airport, Ali was forced out of the aircraft. He was then handed over to Airport Police. Later, Ali was shifted to Capital Hospital for treatment. After the entire incident, the flight took off from Bhubaneswar at 7:13 am. Ali reported owns an ice-cream parlour in Guwahati.
