A 22-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly attacking his former girlfriend and four members of her family with a knife inside their Hyderabad home in the early hours of Friday, June 19. Police said all five victims sustained injuries during the assault and were later admitted to hospital, where their condition is reported to be stable.

The accused, identified as K Govardhan, allegedly entered the family's second-floor flat at around 4 am and attacked the 20-year-old woman, her parents, elder sister and uncle. Investigators said the incident followed a relationship that had ended about a year ago, after which the woman allegedly faced repeated stalking and threats. Hyderabad Shocker: Jilted Lover Stabs Ex-Girlfriend, 4 Family Members After Breakup in Telangana, Arrested.

According to police, Govardhan and the woman were previously in a relationship and had known each other while living in the same neighbourhood.

Officials said the accused allegedly climbed onto the residential building from a neighbouring structure and gained access through the corridor before entering the flat and launching the attack. Police are investigating the sequence of events that led to the incident and whether any prior complaints or warnings had been reported. Hyderabad Shocker: Woman Alleges Forced Conversion, Rape, and Blackmail by Husband, Family.

Authorities said the woman and her family members attempted to resist the attack and protect one another during the confrontation. In the struggle that followed, the woman's parents, elder sister and uncle allegedly intervened and were also injured. Most of the victims sustained injuries to their hands while trying to fend off the attacker. Police said the woman's mother suffered facial injuries and reportedly lost a tooth during the incident.

The assault was halted after neighbours heard the family's cries for help and rushed to the scene. According to police, residents overpowered the accused and alerted authorities. Officers arrived shortly afterward and took Govardhan into custody. The injured family members were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Doctors have stated that all five victims are in stable condition.

During the preliminary investigation, police found that the accused had allegedly purchased the knife online a few days before the attack. Investigators are examining the procurement of the weapon and other circumstances leading up to the incident, including allegations of stalking, harassment and threats made after the relationship ended.

Police have registered a case under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The accused was produced before a court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody. Officials said the investigation remains ongoing, with police continuing to probe allegations of stalking and harassment prior to the attack.
