Shimla, January 19: An Indian Army soldier, posted in Kashmir, missed his wedding on Thursday after being stuck in the valley due to heavy snowfall in the region since the past two weeks. The jawan, who hailed from Himachal Pradesh, couldn’t reach his hometown Mandi as heavy snowfall in parts of Jammu and Kashmir had blocked roads. The bad weather had affected flight operations and vehicular movement as snow slides, avalanches and snow blizzards were reported at most places. According to a report by TOI, the wedding ceremonies had started on Wednesday. The barat procession had to leave Khair village in Dharampur for Daled village of Ladbhadol in Mandi on Thursday.

The report adds that preparations were in full swing and both the families had invited guests and relatives. The only one who was left to reach was the groom-Suneel. The leave of the Army jawan had to start from January 1 for which he had reached the transit camp at Bandipora days before. However, due to bad weather and heavy snowfall in the region, Suneel (the groom) got stuck in Bandipora for days as all roads were blocked. Indian Army Personnel of Chinar Corps Walk Through Heavy Snow to Evacuate Critically Ill 75-Year-Old Man And Take Him to Hospital in Jammu and Kashmir (Watch Video).

However, the wedding dates were again fixed after the bride's family agreed to a new date.
