New Delhi, July 25: In a tragic incident, an infant onboard a SpiceJet flight died at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) allegedly due to a heart disease. According to a tweet by ANI, the baby was just six months old. Sanjay Bhatia, DCP, IGI Airport was quoted by ANI saying that the baby died on-board a Patna-Delhi SpiceJet flight on July 25 while being taken to Delhi for medical treatment. Earlier this month, a SpiceJet technician died after getting stuck between the hydraulic door flaps of the main landing gear of an aircraft. The incident took place during maintenance at Kolkata airport. The victim was identified as Rohit Pandey. The hydraulic doors “inadvertently” got closed leaving Pandey trapped there, SpiceJet said in a statement.

In the recent weeks, aviation regulator DGCA has been taking strict action against individuals and entities for various violations. Earlier this month, DGCA had suspended flying licences of two SpiceJet pilots for six months. The action came after an aircraft operated by them damaged runway edge lights during landing at Kolkata airport.
