IPS Trainee Booked for Alleged S*xual Harassment at Hyderabad Police Academy
A woman IPS trainee has accused a batchmate of s*xual harassment, assault, and blackmail at the SVPNPA in Hyderabad. Police have registered an FIR against the accused, Uday Krishna Reddy, under the BNS and IT Act. Investigations are underway regarding the serious allegations.
A woman IPS trainee officer at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad has filed a complaint against a fellow trainee, alleging s*xual harassment, physical assault, criminal intimidation, and blackmail. The Attapur police registered a First Information Report (FIR) on Saturday, 18 July, following the serious allegations levelled against the accused, trainee officer Uday Krishna Reddy.
As per a report by The South First, police have invoked multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including those relating to s*xual harassment, stalking, and outraging the modesty of a woman, alongside charges under the Information Technology Act for privacy violations. Similarly, as per a report by Telangana Today, the complainant alleged that the harassment began on 23 June and escalated significantly over the following weeks, involving abusive messages and derogatory remarks made in front of other trainees. Allegations of Coercion and Physical Violence
The survivor's complaint details a series of distressing encounters, beginning with the accused allegedly pressuring her to admit to a false relationship with another trainee. The situation reportedly escalated when the accused forced her to reveal her mobile phone password and coerced her into showing him personal messages.
The complainant alleges that on the night of 9 July, the accused wrongfully restrained her, took her to his room, grabbed her by the hair, attempted to strangle her, and held a knife to her neck to prevent her from leaving. She further reported that the physical assault continued on the morning of 10 July.
Blackmail and Reputation Damage
Beyond physical violence, the complaint alleges that the accused secretly recorded a private video of the survivor without her consent and sent it to her husband in an attempt to blackmail her. Furthermore, the accused is alleged to have circulated false and degrading information about the complainant within the Academy to tarnish her professional reputation.
