According to PIB Fact Check, the National Film Awards have traditionally been presented in Delhi. However, this is not the first occasion when the ceremony has been held outside Delhi. PIB Fact Check pointed to official records documenting the 17th National Film Awards ceremony in Chennai. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has also decided to organise the National Film Awards in different parts of the country. As part of this decision, this year's ceremony is being held in Kevadia, Gujarat.
The development therefore represents a change in the location of the ceremony, but not a first in the history of the National Film Awards.
