Jaipur: Daughter Hires Contract Killers To Eliminate Mother for Government Job and Property; 7 Arrested
The Rajasthan Police have arrested a 23-year-old woman and six others for allegedly orchestrating the murder of her 45-year-old mother in Jaipur's Pratap Nagar area. Investigators revealed that the killing, initially reported as a hit-and-run road accident on July 3, was a premeditated contract killing designed to look like a traffic mishap.
A 23-year-old woman has been arrested along with six others for allegedly conspiring to murder her mother in Jaipur to gain control of family property and secure a government job on compassionate grounds, police said. Investigators allege the accused hired contract killers for ₹7 lakh and staged the killing to resemble a road accident. The victim, a government employee, was killed on July 3 in Jaipur's Pratap Nagar area.
Police Allege Murder Was Planned to Look Like an Accident
According to police, the victim, 45-year-old Neeraj Sharma, was returning home after dropping her son at a coaching centre when a speeding Scorpio SUV struck her. The impact proved fatal, and the driver fled the scene. Jaipur Hit-and-Run Twist: Police Say Law Student Hired Contract Killers to Murder Mother.
The incident was initially treated as a road accident. However, CCTV footage and subsequent investigation led police to suspect that the collision had been deliberately planned. Investigators now allege the vehicle was used to intentionally run over the victim as part of a premeditated murder conspiracy.
Daughter Allegedly Conspired With Relatives
Police claim the victim's daughter, Ayushi Sharma, hatched the plot with the help of her uncle and cousin. Investigators allege the trio hired contract killers for ₹7 lakh to execute the murder after conducting surveillance on the victim's daily routine for nearly a month. According to the investigation, the accused first monitored Neeraj Sharma's movements using a rented SUV before carrying out the attack in a Scorpio vehicle. Police allege multiple conspirators coordinated the victim's movements and the execution of the plan on the day of the incident.
Property Dispute and Compassionate Appointment Cited as Motive
Police said Neeraj Sharma's husband died about a year ago, after which she received a compassionate appointment and joined a court as a Lower Division Clerk (LDC).
Investigators allege that Ayushi wanted the government job following her father's death, but her mother accepted the appointment instead. Police also said there had been a property dispute between the mother and daughter for the past two to three years. These factors are believed to have motivated the alleged conspiracy.
Seven Arrested, One Accused Still Absconding
Police have arrested seven people in connection with the case, including Ayushi Sharma, her uncle Mohan Swaroop, and several alleged accomplices. Another accused, identified as Balram alias Ravi, is currently absconding, and efforts are underway to trace him.
The complaint was filed by the victim's brother, who told police that Neeraj Sharma had previously complained of harassment and had expressed fears for her safety due to ongoing disputes within the family.
Police said further investigation is underway to gather additional evidence, including forensic material and witness statements. Authorities are also examining the roles of each accused in the alleged conspiracy before filing the final chargesheet. The allegations against the accused are yet to be tested in court, and the investigation remains ongoing.
