In a disturbing case of familial betrayal in Jaipur, a 23-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly conspiring with her relatives to kill her mother. The accused, identified as Ayushi, reportedly orchestrated the crime to secure her mother’s government position and claim property inheritance.
A Pre-planned Murder Disguised as an Accident
The incident came to light after the victim, 45-year-old Neeraj Sharma, a resident of Ravindra Nagar in Pratap Nagar, died on July 3 after being struck by a speeding Scorpio vehicle. Initially, the accused attempted to portray the tragic death as a road accident. However, suspicion was raised by the victim's brother, Rakesh, who lodged a formal complaint alleging foul play and naming his niece and other family members as suspects. Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Ranjita Sharma confirmed that the investigation revealed the death was not accidental. “During the investigation, it emerged that the death was not accidental but a pre-planned murder. The accused had hired assailants to kill the woman and tried to present it as a road accident,” Sharma stated.
Motive Behind the Conspiracy
According to police, the motive stemmed from a dispute over a government job. Neeraj Sharma had secured a clerical position (LDC) in court on compassionate grounds following the death of her husband, Vijay Kumar Sharma, approximately one year ago. The daughter, Ayushi, allegedly coveted this position for herself. “In her statement, the accused said she had asked her mother to let her take the job after her father's death, but her mother took the position instead. This led to stress,” the officer explained. Driven by the desire for both the government job and the family property, Ayushi reportedly conspired with her uncle and cousin to eliminate her mother. Legal Action Taken
Police have arrested seven individuals involved in the conspiracy, including the daughter, her uncle, and her cousin. Efforts are currently underway to apprehend one remaining suspect who is reportedly on the run. The accused face charges related to criminal conspiracy and murder as the investigation continues.
