"During a protest at Jantar Mantar, Nishu's father, Sanjay, was beaten up. We kept seeking justice," Ranka stated. "The situation in Delhi is such now that the criminal is openly admitting to the crime. But Delhi Police, at the behest of the BJP, did not take any action. We have been standing by Nishu and her father. We will demand from police to register a murder case."

CJP spokesperson Saurav Das further noted that despite the publicly available video, law enforcement officials refused to invoke Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code.

Police noted that medical examinations at RML Hospital classified the injuries as "simple in nature" and confirmed that notices were served to the accused in accordance with due legal procedures.

Following public backlash, Swatantra Bhardwaj issued a clarification claiming his remarks in the podcast were made sarcastically and asserted that his actions at Jantar Mantar were in self-defence after being surrounded by a crowd. CJP representatives maintain that the physical attack and subsequent admissions warrant immediate legal escalation, confirming that party members will continue pushing for higher-level charges as the investigation proceeds.
