Earlier, the family had demanded the National Investigation Agency (NIA) investigation in the assassination case saying that they don't trust the state administration. "We want the NIA to investigate the case, we do not trust anyone. My father was killed although he had security guards, how can we possibly trust the administration then?," deceased's son Satyam Tiwari had said on Saturday.

Meanwhile, CM Yogi Adityanath had said that all culprits involved in the murder would be cracked down. "Investigators are swiftly probing the matter and tracing the suspects. The SIT will crack down on all the culprits. No one will be spared," he said.

Tiwari had struck controversy in 2015 when he issued blasphemous statements against Prophet Mohammad. He was jailed by Akhilesh Yadav government but was freed after the National Security Act (NSA) was revoked against him.
