Lucknow, August 10: The Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested six kanwariyas including main accused Pappu in connection with the attack on a police vehicle on August 7. A group of Kanwariyas had vandalised a police vehicle in Bulandshahr this week. The video of the incident went viral on the social media, with people asking the police to take action.

According to reports, the police personnel in the vehicle had a narrow escape even as the kanwariyas tried to chase them as they ran. The police had registered a case over the incident.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Friday directed the police to take action against the kanwariyas indulging in vandalism and taking the law into their own hands. This came after multiple incidents of Kanwariyas vandalising cars of citizens and police were reported in the past few days.

Last week in Delhi, a group of kanwariyas vandalised a car in Moti Nagar after it brushed past one of them. The couple inside the car had a narrow escape even as the car received severe damages in the incident. The Delhi Police received flak on the social media as videos of the incident showed two policemen standing as mute spectators and not acting against the kanwariyas. The police on Thursday arrested one person in connection with the vandalism incident in Moti Nagar.
