A man was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly stabbing a 20-year-old woman to death at a private resort in Kozhencherry, Kerala’s Pathanamthitta district, police said. The victim, identified as Dilsha, had been working as a receptionist at the resort for about a month. The accused has been identified as Jithu. According to police and the victim’s colleagues, Jithu reached the resort at around 1 pm on Tuesday and asked to meet Dilsha. The two reportedly spoke under a tree in the resort’s courtyard before an argument broke out, Hindustan Times reported.

Police allege that Jithu then attacked Dilsha with a knife he was carrying. Resort staff and local residents intervened and restrained him before handing him over to the police. Kerala: Teen Girl Hires 3 Friends To Kill Grandfather; Wanted iPhone, Bike for Boyfriend.

Dilsha suffered multiple stab wounds and was taken to a nearby hospital. She later succumbed to her injuries, police said. Thiruvalla Deputy Superintendent of Police PR Santhosh said the accused had been taken into custody and that a detailed investigation was underway.

Police Probe Possible Relationship Motive

Police said Dilsha and Jithu were reportedly in a brief relationship, which she ended about a month ago.
