The City District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force has arrested seven individuals, including two women, in connection with a major drug smuggling network in Kerala's Thrissur district. The operation led to the recovery of 308 grams of MDMA, a synthetic narcotic, marking one of the largest drug seizures in the region in recent months. Investigators revealed that one of the detained women had allegedly hidden a portion of the contraband inside her private part to evade police detection during transit.

The enforcement action initiated during a routine vehicle inspection at Vaniyampara. Officers intercepted a swift hatchback traveling toward Thrissur from a resort located in neighboring Palakkad. Four occupants of the vehicle-identified as Shifas (26), Vidya (28), Jishnu (27), and Sreelakshmi (20), all residents of the Guruvayur-Pavaratty region-were detained after a preliminary search uncovered two grams of MDMA concealed by one of the female suspects. Following the initial vehicle intercept, the local police expanded their investigation based on details obtained during the interrogation of the suspects. A subsequent raid at the residence of Shifas yielded an additional 18 grams of MDMA, prompting authorities to dig deeper into the distribution chain.

The investigation reached a critical breakthrough when digital evidence from the suspects' mobile phones guided officers to an aluminum fabrication workshop in Pancharamukku, Chavakkad. A thorough search of the commercial facility uncovered the bulk of the shipment: 288 grams of MDMA packed into three separate packets inside a larger container. Three additional suspects linked to the operation-Shabir (34), Anshad (31), and T.T. Sumesh (25)-were arrested during the follow-up raids at the workshop. Police officials state that the investigation remains active as they analyze communication logs to map out the broader supply network and trace the origin of the synthetic narcotics.
