The investigation into the alleged murder of Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal has taken a fresh turn after the two main accused, Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary, declined to undergo a polygraph (lie detector) test. Following their refusal, a local court remanded both accused to 14 days of judicial custody, while investigators indicated they are now exploring the possible involvement of a third person in the case, as reported by TOI.

Court Rejects Polygraph Request

Pune Rural Police had sought permission to conduct polygraph tests on Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary, arguing that the examination could help uncover concealed facts and corroborate evidence gathered during the investigation. Since a polygraph examination cannot be conducted without the voluntary consent of the individual, the court did not permit the request. Instead, it sent both accused to judicial custody for 14 days while the investigation continues.

Police Explore Third Person's Possible Involvement

Investigators have said they are examining whether another individual may have had prior knowledge of, or played a role in, the alleged conspiracy. Police recently questioned a youth from Maharashtra's Beed district after learning that the accused had allegedly discussed their plan with him before the incident. According to investigators, they are verifying his statements and assessing whether his role was limited to prior knowledge or extended further. Ketan Agarwal Murder Case: Lonavala Police To Seek Polygraph Tests for Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary.

Investigation Continues on Multiple Fronts

The police are also examining digital evidence, including mobile phone records and encrypted chats allegedly exchanged between the accused. Investigators believe decoding these conversations could help establish the sequence of events and identify whether additional individuals were involved in planning the crime.

Earlier, police had claimed that the accused had allegedly rehearsed the crime before the incident at Lohagad Fort, an allegation that forms part of the broader investigation.

Ketan Agarwal, a 25-year-old realtor from Pune, died after allegedly being pushed off a cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 18. Police allege that his fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged partner, Chetan Chaudhary, conspired to kill him. The two were arrested during the investigation and have denied the allegations against them.

The case has attracted widespread attention due to the alleged premeditation, digital evidence under examination, and continuing investigation into whether others were aware of or involved in the alleged murder plot. The investigation remains ongoing.
