The investigation into the alleged murder of Pune-based realtor Ketan Agrawal has uncovered fresh details, with police sources claiming the two accused allegedly searched online for ways to kill him using poison and avoid getting caught before his death. Investigators also believe the duo discussed how they would explain the incident to police and portray it as an accidental fall.
The alleged murder took place on June 18 at Maharashtra's Lohagad Fort, where Ketan Agrawal was allegedly pushed into a gorge. According to police sources, investigators suspect that accused Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary conducted multiple online searches before the alleged murder.
Among the searches, police believe the duo looked into whether Ketan Agrawal could be killed using poison and how to avoid detection after committing the crime. Investigators further suspect that the two discussed how they would respond during police questioning and present the incident as an accidental fall from the fort. Police have not publicly released the forensic findings related to the alleged searches, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Alleged Recce at Lohagad Fort
Police sources further alleged that Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary visited Lohagad Fort a few days before the incident to survey the location.
Investigators suspect the accused identified a specific point from where pushing someone could make the fall appear accidental. Police are also examining whether the duo rehearsed the alleged plan during the visit.
As part of the investigation, police recreated the crime scene at Lohagad Fort with accused Siya Goyal.
According to police sources, the reconstruction began at around 8:30 am. Investigators said Siya allegedly retraced the route taken to the fort, explained how the incident unfolded and pointed out the location where co-accused Chetan Chaudhary was allegedly hiding before the attack.
Police also used a mannequin to recreate how the alleged murder is believed to have taken place on June 18.
Ketan Agrawal was allegedly pushed into a gorge at Lohagad Fort on the morning of June 18. Police continue to investigate the case and are examining digital evidence, witness statements and other forensic material as part of the probe.
