The Pune Rural Police on Sunday conducted a comprehensive crime scene recreation at Lohagad Fort as part of the ongoing investigation into the murder of 26-year-old real estate businessman Ketan Agarwal. The accused-Agarwal’s fiancée, Siya Goyal, 20, and her partner, Chetan Chaudhary, 22-were taken to the western cliff of the historic fort, where Agarwal was allegedly pushed to his death into a 400-foot gorge on June 18. Investigators are using the recreation to verify the exact sequence of events leading up to the fatal fall, which was initially reported by the accused as a tragic trekking accident.

Detailed Sequence Reconstruction

According to Pune Rural Police Superintendent Sandeep Singh Gill, the reconstruction focused heavily on mapping the physical layout of the crime and cross-referencing it with the statements provided by the accused during custodial interrogation. "The accused have been taken to Lohagad Fort—specifically to the spot where the incident occurred—to recreate the scene," SP Gill stated. "The entire sequence of events is being reconstructed: the route taken, where the accused positioned themselves, the specific actions performed, and how the incident unfolded. The accused has provided details regarding this." Ketan Agarwal Murder Case: Police Probe 'Cricket Connection' Between Accused Amid Family's Denial.

Officials noted that tracing the physical movements on the rough terrain is crucial to matching the forensic evidence with the timeline established through digital surveillance and CCTV footage.

Shifting Timelines and Digital Trails

The case, which began as an Accidental Death Report (ADR) after Goyal claimed Agarwal slipped while taking photographs, quickly turned into a murder investigation when local authorities and family members grew suspicious of her inconsistent statements.

Subsequent technical analysis uncovered a complex, multi-month conspiracy. Investigators revealed that Goyal and Chaudhary had exchanged over 2,000 phone calls spanning roughly 238 hours in the six months leading up to the incident. Furthermore, CCTV footage from the fort on June 18 captured Chaudhary tailing the couple while attempting to conceal his identity in a heavy hoodie despite summer temperatures. Ketan Agarwal Murder Case: Video Shows Accused Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary at Local Cricket Tournament.

Police also discovered that Chaudhary had attempted to establish an alibi by deliberately leaving his personal mobile phone at his shop to stay "digitally offline" for over ten hours, a tactic that investigators say ultimately intensified their suspicions.

Background of the Conspiracy

According to the police probe, Agarwal and Goyal were engaged in February and were scheduled to be married in Rajasthan later this year. However, investigators allege that Goyal was unwilling to proceed with the marriage due to her relationship with Chaudhary.

The interrogation revealed that prior attempts had allegedly been made on Agarwal's life, including a previous trip to Lohagad Fort on June 14 where he narrowly survived a fall by grabbing onto a bush. Investigators also link Goyal to the theft and destruction of Agarwal's passport a few weeks earlier, an action intended to cancel a planned pre-wedding photoshoot in Bali. The accused remain in police custody as local authorities finalize the evidentiary timeline ahead of upcoming court proceedings.
