Navi Mumbai, February 11: The new local Railway line stretching from Khar Kopar and Uran are likely to start by the end of 2019. The connectivity between this route on the harbour line is considered important due to the increasing development process around Ulwe and the upcoming airport in Navi Mumbai. Nerul-Seawoods-Kharkopar Local Trains Timetable & Schedule: New Railway Line Commences Operations.

The first phase of the Nerul to Kharkopar in Ulwe has commenced operations on November 2018 covering Nerul, Seawoods Darave, Sagar Sangam, Targhar, Bamandongri and Khar Kopar stations. The 12-kilometre route got a good response from the people and the second phase is expected to be completed in a few months. Centre Approves Rs 65,000 Crore to Revamp Mumbai Suburban Railway.

The 27-km-long project is developing at a cost of Rs 1,782 crore. One fully functional the new corridor will benefit the people living in Navi Mumbai. The project was pending for the last 10 years, due to government paperwork. The cost of the project is being shared by the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) and Indian Railways.

"Once fully functional, the entire corridor will benefit the Navi Mumbai Airport, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trusts container port at Nhava Sheva and fishing communities in the region and also connect Panvel, Pen, Roha and CSMT," said an official of state-run town planning agency CIDCO.
