Kota Toddler S*xual Assault Case: Police Scan 10 Days of CCTV, Collect DNA Samples From Playschool Staff

Authorities in Rajasthan’s Kota are reviewing extensive CCTV footage and analyzing DNA samples to trace the perpetrator behind the alleged s*xual assault of a toddler attending a local playschool. The incident came to light after the girl’s family brought her to a pediatrician following an illness. During a medical examination at JK Lone Hospital, doctors noticed swelling and physical signs of trauma, leading them to suspect abuse. Based on the medical evaluation, the family lodged an official complaint, and Kota police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act alongside other relevant legal provisions.

Because the victim is under three years old, she has been unable to provide a detailed account of the event, repeating only limited words such as "uncle" to describe what occurred. Family members informed law enforcement that the child’s routine was restricted to her home and the nearby playschool, shifting the focus of the investigation toward individuals associated with the facility. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was deployed to collect physical evidence from the site. Investigators have gathered DNA samples from male staff members at the playschool as well as select family members to run comparative tests. Additionally, officers are reviewing nearly ten days of security camera footage from the school premises and surrounding areas to establish a timeline and identify any suspicious activity. The investigation is being led by Mukesh Sankhla, Additional Superintendent of Police for the Women's Harassment Investigation Cell. Kota City Superintendent of Police Tejaswini Gautam confirmed that an FIR has been registered and stated that official legal actions will proceed once the complete FSL and forensic DNA reports are finalized.
